A jeweler was robbed of his $500,000 Richard Mille watch by an armed gang as he sat at a restaurant table in Beverly Hills, California, USA.
Shay Belhassen reportedly grabbed a gun from one of the three hooded raiders and wrestled them to the ground but they made off with his RM 11-03 rose gold Flyback Chronograph.
Four shots were fired in the daylight robbery, one of which struck a woman diner in the leg, according to the Los Angeles Times.
“I grabbed the gun with both my hands and fought them to the ground,” he told the newspaper. “At the end of the fight I ended up with the gun, and they ran away.”
He’d just sat down with clients at the celebrity restaurant Il Pastaio after showing them watches at his showroom (on 4 March).
He’s offering a $50,000 reward for the return of the watch. Beverly Hills police believe he was deliberately targeted for the timepiece.
