A Lanarkshire jeweller has taken home an award for best independent retailer in Scotland after also winning in a different category at the 2019 ceremony.
McKellars Jewellers in Lanark was named best specialised retailer in Scotland at the Scotland Business Awards two years ago.
Now the business, which has been trading in the area since 1904, has won the Best Independent Retailer in Scotland for 2020/21 award in the most recent ceremony.
Director Ken Scott commented: “Having won our category two years ago, the last time the awards were run, we really did not believe we would win the final for a second year running.
“The category field is so large and diverse and trading conditions have been so difficult this past 18 months. To win for a second year running was truly mind-blowing.
“As we have said in the past, we are acutely aware that these awards, which are very customer-driven, are a true endorsement of the efforts McKellars go to in trying to help and support our customers.
“Our team work very hard to maintain a high level of professionalism and provide a service that is not only very personal and friendly but also wide-ranging.
“We are very grateful to all our customers for their continued loyalty and support and for taking the time and effort to vote for us.
“It is the residents of Lanark and the surrounding towns that keep our business alive and we know that without them and their support we would not be business.
“It is challenging times that we live in, especially for small businesses on the High Street.
“We hope we will still be here years from now, still providing answers to customers questions and fulfilling their needs. Maybe even still winning the odd award like Scotlands Best Independent Retailer.”
