VICENZAORO SEPTEMBER 2022

FUTURE SCENARIOS, PROTAGONISTS FROM THE JEWELLERY WORLD, WATCHMAKING BETWEEN VINTAGE AND CONTEMPORARY: THE KEY MOMENTS OF THE FIRST DAY OF THE EVENT

Vicenza, – The opening day of Vicenzaoro September 2022 – The Jewellery Boutique Show, the international gold and jewellery exhibition organised by IEG – Italian Exhibition Group, ongoing in Vicenza until Tuesday 13th September together with VO Vintage (9th – 11th September), saw various events and opportunities for the public and operators to deepen their knowledge, including the dissemination of economic data on the sector, meetings and interviews with key voices from the world of jewellery.

CLUB DEGLI ORAFI: MORE THAN HALF OF OPERATORS EXPECT TURNOVER TO GROW
The gold and jewellery sector is definitely in good health to the point that more than half of operators foresee a growth in turnover, also confirmed by the change in the ISTAT index, which stood at +32% in the first half of 2022, better than the fashion sector and the Italian manufacturing average. This is what emerges from the economic survey carried out by Club degli Orafi in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo’s Studies and Research Department, presented in Vicenza today on the opening day of Vicenzaoro September 2022, Italian Exhibition Group’s international gold and jewellery show.

The survey, now in its second edition, underlines how jewellery and costume jewellery are among the top performers in the Italian industry in terms of production, both when compared to the first half of 2021 (+23%) and to the first six months of 2019 (+30%).
In spite of an inevitable downward turn in expectations, due to the continuation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and tension on material prices, and which, in any case, only affects smaller operators, as many as 70% of survey participants declare a growth in turnover. «The perception of the entrepreneurs, confirmed by an analysis of the numerical data, is one of a sector that is undergoing considerable growth after an already exceptional 2021, even in terms of pre-2019 values,» said Giorgio Villa, President of the Club degli Orafi Italia. What worries operators the most at the moment, in addition to the difficulties in managing raw material prices, is labour recruitment, indicated by 80% of the largest companies. «The scenario for the coming months remains uncertain and complex, but Italian companies still appear confident in view of the good results achieved and the competitiveness demonstrated in recent years,» said Stefania Trenti, Head of Industry Research at Intesa Sanpaolo’s Studies and Research Department.

JEROME FAVIER, CEO OF DAMIANI: “THE FUTURE BELONGS TO BRANDS”
“Authenticity is the key to success, because it brings with it a whole load of incredible values: excellence, versatility, customer.” The words of Jérome Favier , CEO of the Damiani Group, interviewed on the afternoon of the opening day on the Vicenzaoro stage by Federica Frosini, editor of IEG’s VO+ magazine. A useful opportunity to take a snapshot of a strong and dynamic brand, versatile and playful in character, able to respond to the sudden changes in the trends of a rapidly evolving market while keeping faith with the unique value of authenticity. Favier outlined the case history of an iconic high and fine jewellery company that wins over the end customer with a highly effective customer journey. Central to this is the construction of a comprehensive and attractive distribution policy, which leverages on the experience of digital omnichannel, property and third-party distribution. Increasingly decisive for conquering the market, according to Favier, is the concept of branding, a factor destined to achieve double-digit development in the medium term. A coherent outlook and forecast when combined with the analysis of a volatile market, characterised by sudden changes in trends to which the company responds by interpreting the value concepts of each individual brand (Damiani, Salvini, Bliss, Calderoni, Venini, Rocca) in products of evident multi-versatility. Lastly, space was given to the company’s new products: Belle Epoque Reel, a Damiani collection that, according to Favier, is bound to become a best seller in the near future, presented at VOS22, and the launch of Salvini’s communication campaign.
